Ballad is the same high quality superwash yarn as Melody, from JojoLand Yarns, but in solid colors.
With 220 yards to a 50 gram (1.76 oz) ball of yarn, the 100% wool is superb for both sock projects, baby clothing, or even lace designs -- it is a light fingering weight that is not that far off lace weight (similar in weight to "Anne" from Schaefer Yarns, for those familiar with that) and is wonderful to work with.
With knitting needles of size 1 to 3 (US) needles (that's 2.25 to 3.25mm needles), it would give a gauge between 7 and 8 stitches to the inch. Crochet hooks recommended are between US B1 - D3 (also 2.25mm to 3.25 mm).
I like these on their own or to mix with other fingering weight yarns. I particularly went for the black to use with Lucy Neatby's Spindrift Capelet -- can't you see it with this Ballad and one of the Melody gradually changing colorways? Yum.
The color we show here is just labeled as #620 -- but it is simply and absolutely Black -- deep, dark, and mysterious.
As with all of JojoLand's Yarns, the price is very affordable and the quality excellent.
