We are delighted to here present the Beach Comber bracelet, made with real shells and with the true look of summer.
Can't you just smell the salt water? And feel the sea breeze?
We found a variety of shells for this one, called Mongo, in a green-ish color, both small and large (between 4mm and 6mm in size). With these we added Black Lip Shell Heishi, in the small 3mm size and some great Sea Urchin Spines for highlights.
We mixed 'regular' beads in beach-glass type colors -- both clear and matte sand, slate blue and sage green, in 4mm fire polish crystals and in the neat little "Farfalle" butterfly shapes. To that we added Miyuki's Ivory Pearl Ceylon in 6/0s, Crystal Gold Luster n 8/0s and 4x4 cubes, Matte Ceylon 8/0s from Toho, and Celery Lined crystal 5/0 triangles.
Oh! And some 6mm fire polish crystals called Crystal Twilight, a clear with nuances of other hues, sometimes golden, sometimes smoky, sometimes deep. And some striking disks in varying topaz and blue hues.
That is a rough list -- every mix is a bit different -- some added, some left out, all unique.
They are strung on Kreinik Tapestry Braid #12 in a color that is a bit more than gold -- a gold with subtle hints of other colors. And we finished it all off with gold-plated clasp in the form of a seeking tendril.
The combination is that of a wonderful walk on the beach, strolling along the shoreline watching the colors and the glints of sun off the shells.
The kit comes with everything you will need except the knitting needles -- I used size 0 US (2mm).
The pattern is the same as for all of the Bead Soup and Bead Stew Bracelets -- you have the option to get it or not via the drop-down menu. Make sure that is set as you'd like it before you check out.
A lovely summertime piece. That will add beauty throughout the year.
