Every now and then we discover an amazing yarn and simply have to bring it in for the joy of knitting with it. And this new one from The Fibre Company is glorious!

Canopy Fingering is a 50% alpaca/ 30% Merino/ 20% Bamboo blend that feels absolutely delicious! Each 50g skein has 200 yards to it and can knit anywhere from 28 to 32 stitches to a 4" swatch. Which makes it wonderful as both a light fingering weight or a heavy lace weight.

Here is how the Fibre Company folks describe it:

"Canopy Fingering is a fingering weight 3-ply strong, soft, shiny and drapey yarn perfect for color work, lace or textured stitch patterns. The unique blend of fibers are spun into a smooth yarn and then kettle dyed, and the different way the fibers absorb the dye creates a beautiful depth of color with subtle heathered tones."

All I can add to that is "Yum!"

The color we offer on web page is named Quetzal. A lovely green teal, this is a heathered turquoise that has nuances of blues and greens combined into a wonderful whole. The richness and depth combined with the softness of hand makes this a great yarn to use with intricate stitchwork or even just straight stockinette.

This yarn will be fantastic for any next-to-skin wear -- think of it for scarves and shawls in particular as well as for hats. The alpaca adds warmth (in addition to its stupendous softness), the merino as well (plus the "memory" that wool gives a piece) and the bamboo adds a slight sheen.

Altogether wonderful indeed.
