Here we offer two other versions of the new Ellene Warren design, Chakra Scarf, with special gradiance sets dyed for us by Kelly of The Unique Sheep, in some of our exclusive Earth Faire colorways.
*****
Ellene's concept of the scarf itself, as she wrote it:
"This colorful, feminine scarf is made of circular lace knitted motifs that correspond to the placement and colors of the chakras in your body.
"Chakras are wheels of energy that are believed by yogis and energy healers to exist in the energetic body, and they correspond to organs and functions in the physical body. They are typically pictured as wheels or flowers. Healthy chakras spin clockwise, and self-healing can be supported by meditating upon whichever chakra is involved and visualizing the wheel spinning and the color radiating sparkling light."
Do not be concerned if chakras and their meanings are not your "thing" ---- with or without that special significance, this is a beautiful scarf. And great for a carry-along project as the weather warms up.
Each kit will include the pattern, 7 Unique Sheep Mini Skeins dyed in Foot Prints (sport weight superwash merino) 12.5 grams (38 yards) each.
Unfortunately we sold out of the kits which have the rainbow colors as shown in the photos of the original scarf and as Ellene picked out in her vision. We do have some a couple of special sets of gradiance colorways made specifically for this design:
Neptune's Garden ( a rich blend that ranges from spring green through true green into teals and then navy blues)
Twilight (a striking gradiance going from soft gray/ charcoal then with a gradual addition of blue until the greys are left and the colorway goes into vibrant purples)
And take a look at that last photo of Ellene wearing the scarf (lovely though the yarn there was Koigu) -- there are crystals in the middle of each motif! I asked Ellene about them and she told me that they were sewn on with the cast-on tail. "I believe I used 10mm bicone fire-polished, but whatever you would like would work fine!"
I love it when the knitter can add her/his own special touches. This will be great fun.
If you already have this pattern or have another idea for the yarn set, go ahead and get this without the pattern addition -- there is that option in one of the drop-down menus. Just make sure that those two menus are set as you would like before you check out!
