The smallest version (which is what you see in these photos) takes only around 440 yards (400 m) of a fingering or laceweight yarn. And about 225 beads.
Serenity Silk + has a full 500 yards to its 100 gram skein -- it is a light fingering/ heavy lace weight and perfect for this design.
The colorway we offer here is one of Roxanne's new Crystal Colors, light and delicate Light Siam. Somehow it manages to be a variegation of red tones without going too much into pink -- a soft rose red (a touch on the cool blue side of red) with some of the color having a deeper saturation and some fading into the pastel of pink but remaining overall a rosy red. (I hope that made sense.) The photos do not show it done in this colorway -- you will have to use your imagination for that.
For beads, Bev suggests sizes 6/0 or 5/0 and as this approached a fingering weight and all the beads are added via the crochet-hook-method, we agree that would work best and look great. We have a number we like with this yarn and will include a twenty-gram container in each kit which will give you some extras to play around with. If you have a preference on bead colors, let us know via the "Comments" section as you check out. Otherwise we will choose for you.
