I am really enamored of this design. We set up one stunning kit for it, using one skein of the new yarn called Breathless plus the beads that add such beauty to the piece. But then I thought perhaps some knitters might like to put together their own kit for it. So here is the pattern all by itself:
*****
This pattern makes a wondrous 52" by 8½" scarf with beautiful dragonflies made of lace and beads!
Here is how Jackie describes Dragonfly Dreams:
"Dragonflies symbolize the illusion of light, thoughts and dreams in this knitted interpretation featuring lace, beads and Estonian gathered stitches.
"This design combines lace eyelets, beads, decrease stitch outlines, gathered stitches, stockinette and garter stitch to provide the details of the dragonflies against a ground of reverse stockinette. The dreamy reflection of light and shadow is framed with columns of small beads and gathered stitches."
The pattern as written requires simply 330 yards of either lace weight or light fingering weight yarn plus 168 size 6/0 beads (about 15 grams) and 1240 size 8/0 beads (about 32 grams). The size 6/0 (4 mm diameter) beads are for each dragonfly's body and head; and the size 8/0 (3 mm diameter) are used for outlining each dragonfly's wings as well as for the scarf edges.
Both charted and written stitch instructions are provided.
For adjusting length: Each 24-row repeat adds 4” and takes 25 yards of yarn, 14 large beads and 92 small beads. So you can make this as long or as short as you personally desire.
I love it! Did I say that already?
