A marvelous new scarf kit, designed by Catie and featuring one of the most intriguing yarns we've seen in a long time!
We have five stunning colors for you to choose from -- this is a really fun piece.
Catie writes: "Is it a scarf or is it jewelry? We're not totally sure but one thing is for sure: it's a WOW!"
Using a gorgeous metallic blend yarn from the SWTC called Jazz, the fiber content of 66% rayon with 34% metallized polyester film somehow manages to feel good enough to wear next to the skin.
Each skein is one ounce and 260 yards. This will make you a finished scarf of about 2.5" x 60" -- quite sufficient to wrap in a lot of great ways. The kit will also include at least 350 size 6/0 beads to go with the color you select (more about that later) -- though honestly, they are a bit lost in all the bling of the yarn itself.
The scarf is designed to swirl on itself and is really striking. It was hard to get good photos -- this is one of those projects that just looks best "in-the-flesh" (so to speak).
We have five different colors of Jazz you can choose from. The photos below show them in this order:
The one Catie chose is a black with metallic threads of turquoise and gold and pink. Let's call that one Midnight Glow. You see that as the scarf worn in the photo to the upper right as well as the first below. (Sorry -- that one is currently sold out)
The next one is a deep rich gold -- with darker browns and rust as well. The metallic seems to stay all gold in this while the color of the base yarn changes. We are naming that one Golden Forest.
Third is mainly silver, with silver metallics and also some basic yarn of rose and dark green and a touch of gold. We are calling that one Icy Meadow.
Fourth is a lighter gold -- golden metallics throughout with base yarn of gold and red and orange. We named it Fire.
And the last on this page is another silver base (silver metallics), with roses and pinks and a touch of peach. We are calling it Rose Garden.
Note as of 6/22/2011; One new colorway, and it is easy to name: Copper!. It can be seen in the second photo below.
Make your selection of yarn color from the drop-down menu. Your kit will be made up of the pattern, the yarn, beads to go with the yarn, and a dental floss threader to help with threading the beads on the yarn. All you need to supply is the crochet hook -- Catie used size E.
