This is a wonderful set of yarns.
We are so pleased to be able to offer these.
The Hand-Painted Knitting Yarn folk (HPKY) put together some oh-so-lovely "Giant Skeins" of yarn. And what is a Giant Skein, you may ask? A Giant Skein is a combination of many different yarns all dyed together in the same colorway. Of course, different fibers take dyes somewhat differently so the whole is a wonderful mix of yarns that look fantastic together but aren't boring in the least.
Here is one of their Little Giant Skeins, created with six different sport weight yarns.
Each of these contains:
• Fine Merino (100% merino)
• Kid Mohair Boucle/ Merino (50% merino/ 48% kid mohair/ 2% nylon binder)
• Tweed (100% merino)
• Mohair-Merino-Glitter (65% merino/ 30% mohair/ 5% Lurex)
• Mountain Merino (100% Fine Merino)
• Fine Merino/Silk (80% Merino/ 20% Silk)
Each skein is 120 yards for a total of 720 yards to the 8 ounces (230 grams total.
The overall gauge for these yarns is usually 22 stitches and 40 rows to 4 inches on #5 needles.
On this page we show a colorway that is a wonderful tone-on-tone. All the hues of Rigoletto is a variation on blue. Most are sky blue with some extremely light tints, becoming clouds in the firmament of Rigoletto.
I like, I like.
