This design by Chrissie of Ursa Major Knits  is another quite unique one.

The Design

Here is what she writes:

Hurdy-Gurdy is the second of a sock series created especially for
all sock yarns with a color gradient like Zauberball, Lang Mille Colori, Noro Sock, Mini Mochi, Lana Grossa Meilenweit, Poems Sock, Nordlys by Viking of Norway, and many more. It is a fun to knit project as you will always be compelled to see the effect the next color will offer.

Hurdy-Gurdy is knitted toe-up. If this is your first attempt to knit socks from the toe up, this pattern will guide you through all the steps.

Hurdy-Gurdy is modular, but you will join all peaces as you go, so no seaming is involved.

Hurdy-Gurdy offers written and charted instructions as well asgraphics to demonstrate the architecture of this particular design. This pattern shows a 60, 66, and a 72 stitch version and you will be given a table with all sock sizes to knit your Hurdy-Gurdy socks in your size.

The Yarn and Colorway

We have put together kits with a different yarn and a different colorway than what Chrissie used in her original.  You can see these in the inset photo on the top picture and again right below that.  The other photos, of Chrissie's original socks, are shown here so you can see the design.

And now, without further ado, let me present (tah dah!) your choice of three lovely colorways of Poems Sock.  Poems Sock is a machine washable 75% superwash wool/ 25% nylon with 459 yards (420  meters) per 3.5 ounce (100 gram) skein.

The first is Cabin Fever.  Cabin Fever combines the colors of a sunrise.  I see the amber, the gold, the orange into rose, the green and the sky blue.  Quite striking indeed.

The next is Aurora Borealis.  This has rich cool tones including teal, purple, gray.

And we also are offering Cruise, which has the colors of the spectrum -- not quite primaries but close  -- a rainbow blend of clear colors. Deep golden yellow, orange, red, wine, purple, blue, green. (Sorry, out of stock)

All you need for these beauties in any of the sizes is one skein.

The Pattern

The kit will not automatically include the pattern. I know some knitters will prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Chrissie via her Ravelry web page. If that is how you would like to go, then set the "Pattern" drop-down menu to "No Pattern Needed." This is what you should do if you prefer your patterns in the Ravelry library.

Alternatively, if you would prefer a printed copy (it is 22 pages), please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that and we'll get that to you in your kit.

We also can send the pattern to you via email and if you choose that option, I will send it to you just before shipping out your kit.
