A beautiful new design by Abbey Phelps of Blackberry Knits

This one utilizes the gorgeous new yarn from Mountain Colors called Twizzlefoot in a most pleasing manner.

Truly yum!

Please note that (as described again below) the price on this web page covers one skein of the yarn. You will need at least two skeins to make this design -- or three or four. So plan to order from this particular web page multiple times to make up your own personal kit.

There are lots of options. I tried to leave this open for you to select. If you find it confusing, please feel free to contact us.

The Design

Here is how Abbey describes this beauty:

Worked from the small tip to the wide fan the Kaersta shawl makes use of the wonderful colors of Twizzlefoot yarn from Mountain Colors.

This shawl can be knit in 1-3 colors.

You may use a single color with 2 skeins of the same color of Twizzlefoot, or the pictured 2 color version with 2 skeins of 1 color and 1 skein of a contrasting color, or 3 different colors using 1 skein of each color.

Wow, such choices!

The Yarn

With 450 yards per 100 gram skein, Twizzlefoot is made up of 53% Superwash Merino, 17% Domestic Wool, 17% Silk, 13% Nylon.

Think of it as a fun wool yarn plied with a strand of silk that creates a heathered effect. The look is quite striking indeed.

The Colorways

We brought in a number of colorways in this yarn. Two of them are the same as what Abbey used in her original, shown here. The others are also quite lovely. The top photo shows the two Abbey used in the inset photo on the upper right; below that are the two other colorways we brought in, side-by-side. You do not need to stick with these pairings; they are just there to show you one possibility.

As there are so many ways to combine these yarns to make a most gorgeous shawl, uniquely yours, this web page offers the yarns individually. In other words, the cost you see listed here is for ONE skein of yarn. Select and then Repeat as many times as you would like to make the kit you would like to have.

Here are the colors in the order that they fall on the right hand column of this web page:

Summerdale is one of the ones Abbey used in hers -- she used two skeins of this in the shawls you see on this page. This is the colors of summer -- a cheerful blue and orchid with a splash of rose, teal and terra cotta. Lovely.

Poppy Trail is the other one that Abbey used. The shawl in these photos used one skein of Poppy Trail. Here you will find pink, clover green and butternut squash. Sounds delicious, doesn't it?

Mountain Twilight is one that really appeals to me. It is a deep rich mix of purples with a hint of chocolate and blue --- cool deep shadows.

Snapdragon is a good contrast to that one having warm pinks, red-violets, and copper with some suggestions of brown. I really like it.

The Pattern

Note also that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Abbey via her Ravelry web page. Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that. We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and generally do that right before shipping).

Just make sure that both drop-down menus are set as you would like before you check out.

As this is truly a create-your-own-kit page, you will want to double-check that you only have as many patterns as you want -- put one or two skeins in your shopping cart without the pattern and then add to it one with the pattern included (if that is how you'd like to go).

Let me know if you have any questions.

This is a real beauty and I think you'll be very pleased.
