We are just brought in some lovely lace weight yarn from the SWTC, quite unique in that this one is 100% Bamboo.
Called Xie, we had carried it a few years ago and had kind of forgotten about how nice it was. Then recently Cindersall (the amazing knitter who runs our Ravelry forum) commented on how much she loved it. She was telling me how well the Xie knit up and kept its shape -- indeed if you look at the stunning Evenstar shawl she knitted that is shown behind the cones to the right here (and then again in the next-to-last photograph), it was all done with two cones of Xie, in the lovely lilac coloway.
Spectacular.
*****
This bamboo yarn is packaged in a small cone, about four inches tall. Each has 920 yards in one continuous strand (on a cone) to its 100 grams.
This weight is 10/2 for those who understand those numbers, and for the rest of us, just think "regular" lace weight.
It is hard to get you a good photograph of as each cone is protected with a plastic wrap and I'd hate to unwrap them just to get them to pose nicely for this pictures. :-)
The SWTC folk only give these numbers not names, so I am simply calling them after their colors:
Rosy Pink (#465) since that is what it is. Can you smell the flowers in the soft summer breeze?
Light Lilac (#469) is just that, and the one that Cindersall used in her beauty here.
Plum (#472 is the new stock) is a deep red-violet. Lovely.
Cerulean (#480) is a fancy name for a stunning colorway. It is a peacock blue, a rich vibrant turquoise. Quite something.
I am so pleased to offer these again.
And, of course, this is a great yarn for those who are allergic to animal fibers or who choose not to use them.
Yum!
We can also offer a really beautiful pattern with four cones of Xie. The very last photo shows a design called Wings of the Butterfly done with one cone each of four colorways. Obviously the colors used in the original there are different than these four, but if you would like to try it out, we purposely chose four colors that look lovely together. Just tell us as you check out with your four skeins that you would like a copy of this pattern and we'll include it.
