We introduce here a lovely beaded beauty by Rosemary (Romi) Hill:  Latticework

The Design

Here is how Romi describes this shawl:

Latticework is knit starting from a small triangle and self edging to the end, where the edging turns the corner and becomes something different all together! pattern includes both full written and charted instructions, and can easily be modified for size.

The Yarns and Colorways

The muted purple shawl you see on these pages was knit by Romi in Sweet Georgia's Cash Luxe Fine, a 70% superwash merino/ 20% cashmere/ 10% nylon yarn with 400 yards per 4 ounce skein.

One of our kits offers this exact yarn though the colorway is different.  Our colorway is called Mist and is a soft blue with suggestions of grey to it.  Very much a misty day look.

(You will note that the drop-down menu adds a slight increase to the cost for this yarn.)

As any yarn with a similar yardage would also work well, our second kits are made up of Tosh Merino Light, with 420 yards/ skein and 100% merino wool.  The colorway is Filtered Light, a cream with sparse spatters of golds and blues.

Romi's original pieces are being shown here on this page with her permission so that you can see the design and allow your imagination to put it all together.

The Beads

All that is needed for the beading done on this shawl is 80 size 6/0 beads (about 7 grams).  We will include a bit more.  These are added via the crochet-hook-method.

You might like a bead that mirrors the yarn color -- perhaps a blue or grey for Mist, a creamy pearl for Filtered Light.  Or you might prefer one that stands out more.  I could see a silver lined crystal for Mist, like tiny stars.  Or for Filtered Light maybe a golden bead to pick up and highlight the glow of the speckles or a blue bead to emphasize those hues.

There are so many choices that will look great. If you have no preference, let me choose for you.  Otherwise let me know.

The Pattern

The pattern has both charts and written instructions, and all that is needed is one skein of your choice here plus the beads, included in the kit.

The pattern itself must be gotten from Romi on her Ravelry page.

This will ensure that you get any needed updates, and will store the pattern in your Ravelry library.
