A most lovely yarn unique to Miss Babs, we here present Yet.
As Miss Babs puts it: "This is a Not Quite lace-weight yarn made of 65% Merino Wool and 35% Tussah Silk. Lace weight yarns typically have 5000 or more yards per pound. This yarn has approximately 3200 yards per pound (ypp). This little bit of extra heaviness makes it a great choice for folks new to lace knitting, and still is a wonderful choice for those well-versed in lace knitting.
"The joy of this yarn is that it not only knits up nicely, it becomes more wonderful as it is worn."
(Interestingly, Susannah IC and Knitty.com used "Yet" in the original Annis pattern in the 2010 Spring/Summer Surprise using just one skein to make a most wonderful shawlette.)
*****
Each skein is approximately 400 yards and 2.3 ounces. Now to be honest, most shawls and scarves and even most shawlettes need a bit more than 400 yards (there are some exceptions, of course, and they are wonderful). The nicest thing is that the price is very good on this yarn and two skeins will take you quite far. So keep this in mind as you wander amongst patterns to find the perfect design (and if you'd like some help in your search, we're just an email away).
On this page we are showing two colors which work nicely together, should you wish to use them both in one garment.
Oleander is basically a delightful almost-solid, with roses abounding -- the whole being a wonderful look.
Strawberry Shortcake includes some of the same rose hues and also expands them into deep fuchsia and light pink as well as some burgundy and even true red. A fantastic mix -- I can almost smell the flowers....
I can see the almost-solid (Oleander) as the body of the shawl and the variegated (Strawberry Shortcake) as the edgings for a lovely contrast that adds interest and glory. Though that is only one idea for using both -- there are stripes and all sorts of other things that can make a shawl amazing. And so many designs that would look marvelous with these. Email if you'd like some suggestions.
Pick one or pick both. Use the drop-down menu to make your choice.
