The colorway we have left here is a marvelous uni-sex blend of rich brown tones. Perfect for the gentlemen in your life.

We don't often offer yarns and kits of the heavier weight but this worsted weight yarn was such a great deal that I couldn't pass it up. Shibui was discontinuing their Merino Alpaca blend and I had to snag some.

And then! I was "talking" (emailing) with Nina Machlin Dayton and she mentioned this beautiful pattern which just happens to need worsted weight yarn in two colors.

Well, the rest (as they say) is history.

Let me quote Nina about this lovely Montague Street Cowl:

Stripes and buttons! What could be better? Lots and lots of stripes, going in different directions, in lots of different combinations, in two striking colors!

...This modular knit is a great easy colorwork project that never gets boring or repetitive.

The Merino Alpaca yarn is a 50/50 blend of baby alpaca and merino wool, with 131 yards (120m) to each 3,5 oz (100g) skein. This design calls for a total of about 450 yards divided into two colorways; we are going to include two skeins per color in each kit (for a total of four skeins). You will have to provide your own buttons.

Note that these are not the yarns nor colors that Nina used -- her piece is shown here so you can see the design itself. The yarns in this kit are shown in the inset photo on the top picture and the two below that.

Your color choices:

1. Ash + Bordeaux are very similar to the colors that Nina used in her original piece. A soft gray combines with a rich burgundy -- the contrast is quite dramatic and looks great. (Sorry sold out)

2. Caffeine +Grounds are definitely variations on "coffee" colors, the first being a cafe au lait and the second being a rich black-ish brew. A wonderful sophisticated and uni-sex blend of hues; looks delicious.

As we got these at a great discount, we are passing that on to you. Just be aware that once these are gone, they are truly gone -- poof!

Note also that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Nina via her Ravelry web page. And if you would like the pattern in your Ravelry library, that is the way to go. In that case, choose "No Pattern Needed." Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, please make sure the Pattern drop-down menu is set to that. We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and generally do so right before I mail your kit).

So make sure that both drop-down menus are set as you would like before you check out.

A lovely lovely cowl, fun to knit, great to wear.
