I am delighted with this one -- the creation of a bouquet of crystals for around the neck -- a lei of stupendously crystalline beauty.

Big smiles...

This is a variation on Sivia's Moonrise Necklace. Here I took specific beads to match some fire polish beauties I had absolutely fallen in love with. I matched with smaller beads and put together other larger ones, (including some great daggers) and I am simply so pleased with the result!

I put it around my neck -- it makes a perfect choker length. It looks like I could go to a wedding wearing this (well, I'd need a dress too)! :-)

We had gotten some larger spools of Tapestry #12 braid (the thread we like best for the Bead Soup and Bead Stew works) in a 20 meter length and used the silver for this piece.

If you would prefer silk thread, we can do that too -- just let us know.  Of course, silk won't give quite the same silvery sparkle but it feels lovely.

Beads and crystals go in and out of stock -- some of these beads have been replaced with something else chosen to also work beautifully with the whole. Bear in mind that every kit will be somewhat different, and every necklace as well. Which is part of the joy of it.

This kit contains a full 20 meter spool of silver-y thread (or a 30 yard hank of silk if you prefer), at least 20 grams of smaller beads, a substantial bag (I haven't weighed them) of larger crystals and special ones for the middle of the necklace, and a clasp.

The pattern enclosed is based on the Moonrise Necklace as originally designed by Sivia with a bit of additional data. What I did was thread on about 20 inches worth of the smaller beads, then gradually started to add larger ones until it was all large beads for another 20 inches, then gradually into the smaller ones again, for the next 20 inches -- this is described in detail. This is all before starting to knit -- you want to get the pre-threaded beads ready to go and you start knitting with the pattern.

The pattern uses the magic of short-rows so as to create a true circle, thus lying beautifully on one's neck.

Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. We offer three options. Many of you have made the original Moonrise Necklace or similar variations of it .  If you feel you do not need another pattern, simply choose "No Pattern Needed."

If you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.

We also can email the pattern to you, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
