We really love these kits and finally have back in stock all of the colors we had been carrying (which had sold out very quickly indeed) plus we added two more colorways: Avocado (variations on green) and Coral (variations on a warm coral).
When I first saw this, when it was still just an idea at The Alpaca Company, I knew we had to bring it in.
Here is the Passi Shawl, created by Heather Zoppetti especially to use gradiently dyed skeins of Paca-Ped colorways.
Rated as intermediate, this shawl is a half-circle design, with a finished size of 19” tall and 50” wide.
Each kit consists of the pattern plus six mini-skeins of Paca Peds, a fingering weight yarn made up of 65% superwash wool/ 20% alpaca/ 15% nylon. Each of these skeins is 90 yards for a total yardage for the shawl of 540 yards.
The six skeins are a set specially dyed in gradually changing tones of a single color -- so the result is a delicate changing bouquet through the shawl.
The suggested gauge for this piece is
18 sts and 32 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch, using US #6 [4mm] or whatever size needles you need to get that gauge.
The completed shawl that you see pictured on these pages is the colorway called Heart's Desire. It plays with variations of rose -- from a light rose through to a deep and rich one.
Tides is a set where a green teal has been gradually changed, ranging from sea foam into a deep rich mallard.
Denim is, of course, blues, again from pale clouds through sky and into royal.
And Lupine, a gradiently dyed set in the purple family, from a pale lavender through wisteria and into a deep amethyst. (Sorry, out of stock)
We also just ordered Avocado, all lovely variations of green.
And Coral, a warm set of hues just singing of a sunset. (out of stock, sorry)
This will be a real beauty in any color.
