Wow!
This is one of my very favorite color combinations.
And, being made of pure cotton, perfect for any who are allergic to wools, or for vegans and vegetarians who object to animal products. Here's one for you.
This stupendous beaded scarf pattern was designed by Laura Nelkin for Schaefer Yarn and uses only one skein of their new "Susan."
Susan is 100% mercerized pima cotton. Each skein is 470 yards (430 meters) to 6 ounces. The pattern uses size 6 (US)/ 4mm needles and 924 of size 6/0 beads to create the glory that you see here.
We got in the exact colorway that the yarn shows in the photograph to the right (called Empress Wu Zhao) -- that is on a different web page.
What we got here is called Billie Holiday and it is breathtaking.
The photo here is not of this Billie Holiday colorway. We put a small inset photo to give you an idea of the color of this in the lower right hand corner. The blues and purples are simply wonderful, rich and deep and almost velvet.
For the beads, we will include at least 80 grams, which includes a few extra to allow for spillage (or the cat jumping on your lap mid-stringing). There are two bead colors that we especially like. One is the Sparkling Purple Lined Aqua Luster 6/0s, which interestingly doesn't look aqua at all -- it looks like a lovely meld of blues and purples, as if it were made for Billie Holiday's colorway. And we really like the Dark Violet Lined Amethyst 6/0s. Deep and rich and mirrors the purples of the yarn. There are a few others that are striking -- the Purple Lined Crystal AB and the Amethyst Lined Crystal AB spring to mind right away. And, of course, the neutrals like the Crystal AB and Sliver Lined Crystal look amazing as well. Let us choose the beads for you unless you have a certainty about what you want.
Stunning. We're thrilled to have them back in stock.
The kit will include the pattern, the yarn, and the beads. (The needles are not part of the kit.) This will give you a wonderful finished scarf of approximately 6" wide x 49" long.
We are also offering in limited quantities some other colorways -- just put the word undulating in the search engine and sit back and gasp.
Just look at these glorious waves! Beautiful design, isn't it?
