Another lovely new pattern from Jackie E-S.
In the photo to the right, you see beads in a lighter color (daylight) and darker color (shadows) embellishing the twining columns of stitches on these charming cabled socks.
This pattern includes instructions for two styles — one with a playful beaded fringe cuff; the other with the more refined look of a plain cuff.
The photo you see when you click on the one to the right shows detail and another option to wear the beaded fringe style with the cuff partially turned down.
Have fun choosing beads to coordinate with your yarn. You can choose beads chosen just a shade lighter and darker compared to the yarn's value. The gray sock in the photo above shows an example of beads chosen for more contrast.
Adult medium. 325 yards fingering weight. 8 stitches/inch, size US 1 / 2.25 mm needles suggested. Cable needle. Size 8/0 (3mm) glass beads: Lighter (L) coordinating color – 912 beads for beaded fringe style or 272 beads for plain cuff style, and Darker (D) coordinating color – 272 beads for either style. Written stitch instructions.
Pictured models were made in Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn and Miyuki beads. We certainly do have Miyuki beads but found that to get the exact yarn from Lorna's Laces for the socks would put us on too long a wait.
We began a hunt for some high-quality handdyed yarns from small suppliers (our favorites) in solids and almost solids and monochromatic blends. We think we succeeded pretty well.
