Another great beaded sock pattern, new from Jackie E-S of HeartStrings Fiber Arts.
Here she "played" with Buffalo down as a yarn fiber and added simple lace work and 6/0 beads.
Great fun -- and lovely!
To quote her:
"Buffalo down is a soft yet sturdy fiber worthy of pampering our feet. Add some beads and a pretty lace pattern, and you'll have a luscious pair of Buffalo Beaded Socks to treasure for traveling across the plains or anywhere. Of course, these socks can be made with yarn other than buffalo as used in this model."
Well, we did try to get the Buffalo down yarn but were unable to (and frankly, the yarn is a bit expensive) -- so began a search for a good substitute.
Just take a look at our fingering weight yarn pages and see what you can see. Lovely lovely lovely -- such a wealth of beauty!
Here's what is needed for each pair of socks, according to Jackie's pattern:
Adult medium. 310 yards fingering weight yarn in 100% buffalo down or a buffalo down blend with merino, nylon or similar. 200 size 6/0 (4mm diameter) glass seed beads (approximately 15g). 7 stitches/inch, size US 2 (3mm) needles suggested.
