With thanks to Lewis Carroll for the word, we here present our Burbling Brook. Such a great word -- bubbly and gurgling as it flows along.
We wanted to create a bracelet that you could knit with the concept and look of flowing bubbling water, burbling over the rocky stream bed and frolicking as it rushes along to the sea. Along the way, it goes over rocks and rapids and foams and froths. And sometimes it carries flowers in its wake and sometimes it swirls around waterlilies. And above it play the dragonflies.
The beads here are soft pearl and pastel 8/0s to create the water look with flowers and water creatures glowing in the sun.
Then there are some large Crystal AB tear drops and some large and small fire polish crystals, both 4mm and 6mm in Crystal ABs -- as the water flows it encounters rocks and other water hazards and splashes up and swirls around. And occasional drops of pure sunshine in the form of tear drops of 4x6mm size.
Sometimes our brook hits some large obstacle, perhaps a boulder and so we have 10mm diagonally cut Crystal AB cubes.
And flying over it all, the lead-free pewter dragonflies form a clasp, in a hook and eye shape.
[Note as of May 27, 2008 -- a customer wrote that to her dismay the hook of this clasp broke off when she went to open it slightly to allow it to slide onto the "eye" of the clasp. Unfortunately the clasp is pewter and this can happen though we only were informed of this occurring the one time. I really like this dragonfly clasp and tell you this reluctantly but I feel you should know the possibility. Alternatively, we can include instead the dragonfly toggle that is part of our Moonflowers Bead Stew bracelet and the Can Spring Be Far Behind Bead Soup one. These could be an excellent substitution -- tell us as you check out via the "Comments" section if you were prefer this clasp.]
The kit contains the beads and the thread (light blue) and the clasp as well as the pattern -- which is the same as that of our other Bead Soup and Bead Stew bracelets so if you already have that, you might choose to omit that.
You will need knitting needles (not included in kit). We recommend size 0.
Fun and so very delightful!
