Back in Stock!
Wow!
It doesn't rain but it pours! Talk about another glorious beaded scarf pattern -- this one is stunning for sure!
It was designed by Laura Nelkin for Schaefer Yarn -- originally in a lovely cotton yarn and now amended to accommodate Heather, a new fingering weight (and most delicious) merino/silk blend.
Each skein is 400 yards and a 55% superwash merino. 30% silk, 15% nylon blend.
The pattern uses size 6 (US)/ 4mm needles and a bit over 1200 of size 6/0 beads to create a glory similar to what you see here.
The photo of the scarf to the upper right is it done in the Heather yarn and the colorway called Gertrude Ederle (yes, this is also the one you see on the Yarn Harlot's blog for May 26 and 27, 2008 -- the link is below -- gorgeous, yes?) -- a great mix of greens and purples and navy in a rich and deep forest of shadows.
For the beads, we like quite a few beautiful colorways with this one -- I like in particular the Chartreuse Lined Green ABs, the Sparkling Purple Lined Crystal AB, the Sparkling Purple Lined Aqua, the Amethyst Lined Crystal AB (I think this might be the one you can see on the aforementioned blog), Noir Lined Crystal AB (that one is also a possible match for the one on the blog) and the Sea Foam Lined Crystal AB the best so far, but I reserve the right to change my mind. I keep seeing new colors that I think would look marvelous.
So many gorgeous color combinations!
Let us choose the bead color for you unless you have a strong feeling for one or another.
The kit will have at least 100 grams, which includes a few extra to allow for spillage (or the cat jumping on your lap mid-stringing).
The kit will include the pattern, the yarn, and the beads. (The needles are not part of the kit.) This will give you a wonderful finished scarf of approximately 6" wide x 49" long.
Just look at these glorious waves! Beautiful design, isn't it?
