We are thrilled to be able to offer this kit for the beauteous Evenstar design by Susan Pandorf, from her Fellowship of the Ring Collection.
Susan wrote: "The shawl is a full sized round one inspired by Arwen’s Evenstar from Lord of the Rings. Shawl takes 1500 yards of laceweight, and requires an intermediate level of skill; no expertise required, just patience. Written & charted directions.
"...A strong yarn is recommended as this pattern is a large one with much wear & tear on the yarn."
We have worked with Kelly and Laura of The Unique Sheep to be able to offer our exclusive Snow Glint in a generous 5 ounce skein of Eos. This is a 50/50 Tussah Silk/ Merino blend -- the silk adding its strength and sheen to the softness of the merino. The five ounce skein gives a generous 1575 yards, enough to do a substantial swatch if you so choose without fear of running out.
In addition, Susan writes: "There is optional beading on the outside edge of the piece.Bead count is 3000."
We really like silver lined crystal AB 8/0 beads for this. The colorway picks up the subtle rainbow nuances of the Snow Glint and the size doesn't overwhelm the lace weight of the yarn.
Each kit include the full pattern, the yarn and three containers of beads -- again enough so there are no worries if some should spill or the cat jump on your lap at exactly the wrong time.
Bear in mind that the photos of the shawl that we show here were done with a different yarn -- you have to use your imagination. There small inset photo in the picture ot the right shows Snow Glint next to the original.
This is an heirloom in the making....
