From the Queen of thinking-outside-the-box, Lucy Neatby, is this most intriguing and fun to make design.

To quote Lucy, "This waist length shawl with wrap-around ties was designed to show off the attributes of fantasy yarns and makes the most of every inch of them. An ideal stash buster and a universally acceptable gift. It may be worked as shown or adapted to your yarn. Glitzy or plain, this pattern is adaptable to a variety of yarns." .

Size: Adult. Size may be easily adjusted by the yarn/needle combination chosen.

Yarn: DK/sport or fine mohair blends and a small amount of sparkly yarn.

Techniques: Short rows, modified three-needle bind-off, and tassels. Intermediate

I made a simple one, alternating a solid yarn with one of the Fur Real colorways. I had a great time. I have to admit that the beginning I found a bit confusing but I persevered and it smoothed out and got easier and easier.

Now, you may prefer to make this with a combination of novelty yarns, and Lucy explains the way to do that -- indeed that is what the pattern talks about -- but at the time I was looking for something simple that would yield me pleasure in the making and a great shawl to have for the warm months (in over-air-conditioned restaurants and the like). So I went for just one novelty yarn alternating with the base yarn. And am very pleased.

And I stand ready to help with email for anyone who might perhaps get confused at the beginning....
