We are very pleased to re-introduce our River Bed line of bracelets with a very simple and oh-so-lovely look.
We had a bit of trouble for a while finding the high quality stone chips that are required but we are joyfully able to get them again -- watch for new and old colorways to reappear on the website.
Each of these uses high quality stone chips of semi-precious stones with size 8/0 beads interspersed. The result reminds me of the intriguing bed of a stream or river, with the many shapes and forms and varying colors formed as the water rushes over.
The one on this page is made with chips of African Jade -- a dark green hue with slight variations of color. The beads are a hex-cut black 8/0 to add contrast and another intriguing shape. We added a green tapestry braid #12 from Kreinik.
The single kit will make a piece that is only about 5 1/2" to 7" long -- the addition of a multi-ring clasp adds variable sizing, an inch or a bit more. [Larger wrists might simply use extra 8/0 beads (included in the kit) at the beginning and at the end to add length to the piece. It would be a slightly different look but we think it would work and look very fine.]
The photo here shows a prototype created by Theresa Barry for us here. She used the gold tone Aztec style clasp that is also part of the Rock Candy Bead Stew Bracelet.
You can choose this Aztec clasp or a three-ring gold tone round toggle if you would prefer -- just let us know as you check out using the "Comments" section. If you don't specify a preference, we'll choose for you. You could even say that you'd prefer a silver tone version of either -- we have a good selection in stock right now and the greens will look excellent with either.
Everything except the knitting needles (we used size 0/ US 2mm) is included in the kit -- about 150 each of the stone chips, and the 8/0 beads, the spool of thread and a clasp (see above).
It is a very fine looking piece that was a joy to make and quite lovely to wear.
