We are very pleased to introduce a new line of bracelets with a very simple and oh-so-lovely look.
Tentatively called River Bed Bracelets, they are made from high quality stone chips of semi-precious stones with size 8/0 beads interspersed. The result reminds me of the intriguing bed of a stream or river, with the many shapes and forms and varying colors formed as the water rushes over.
The one on this page is made with chips of New Jade -- a light green hue with slight variations of color. The beads are silver lined olive and the thread is a light green tapestry braid #12 from Kreinik (a bit lighter than the original shown here -- that precise color thread is no longer being made).
The single kit will make a piece that is only about 5 1/2" to 7" long -- the addition of a multi-ring clasp adds variable sizing, up to another inch or two to it.
Please note: The current price of silver makes the original sterling silver clasps (as seen in the photo) prohibitively expensive to repeat. We brought in some delicate three ring ones that are silver plated that will look very good and quite similar -- these will be part of your kit.
[Larger wrists might simply use extra 8/0 beads (included in the kit) at the beginning and at the end to add length to the piece. It would be a slightly different look but we think it would work and look very fine.]
Everything except the knitting needles (we used size 0/ US 2mm) is included in the kit -- about 150 each of the stone chips, and the 8/0 beads, the spool of thread and (in this case) a sterling silver three-ring clasp.
It is a very fine looking piece that was a joy to make and quite lovely to wear.
