Here is another one of our River Bed line of bracelets with a very simple and oh-so-lovely look, in another new color combination.
We had had a bit of trouble for a while finding the high quality stone chips that are required but we so glad to be able to get them again and so will be adding more new and old colorways on the website.
Each of these uses high quality stone chips of semi-precious stones with size 8/0 beads interspersed. The result reminds me of the intriguing bed of a stream or river, with the many shapes and forms and varying colors formed as the water rushes over.
The one on this page is made with chips of Natural Agate -- a wonderful amber colored bead, with great variations of orange hues -- from rich and deep to soft and light.
The 8/0 beads are a deep rich golden in tone (silver lined dark topaz) as well, plus a gold thread in Tapestry Braid #12 from Kreinik. The agates are the main performers on this stage and their multiplicity of hues is what adds marvelous depth to the piece.
The single kit will make a piece that is only about 5 1/2" to 7" long -- if you would prefer a multi-ring clasp, that adds variable sizing, perhaps another inch or a bit more. [Larger wrists might simply use extra 8/0 beads (included in the kit) at the beginning and at the end to add length to the piece. It would be a slightly different look but we think it would work and look very fine.]
The photo here shows a prototype created by Theresa Barry for us here. She used a lovely gold tone toggle clasp.
You can choose this clasp or a three-ring gold tone round toggle if you would prefer -- just let us know as you check out using the "Comments" section. If you don't specify a preference, we'll choose for you.
Everything except the knitting needles (we used size 0/ US 2mm) is included in the kit -- about 150 each of the stone chips, and the 8/0 beads, the spool of thread and a clasp (see above).
It is a very fine looking piece that was a joy to make and quite lovely to wear.
