We are very pleased to introduce a new line of bracelets with a very simple and oh-so-lovely look.
Tentatively called River Bed Bracelets, they are made from high quality stone chips of semi-precious stones with size 8/0 beads interspersed. The result reminds me of the intriguing bed of a stream or river, with the many shapes and forms and varying colors formed as the water rushes over.
The one on this page is made with chips of Botswana Agate, an intriguingly varied mix of colors in this semi-precious stone. There are creams and yellows and ambers and taupes and suggestions of a multitude of other hues as well. We really like the look.
For this one, we chose to use a thread which brought out and emphasized the reddish stones -- we went with an almost copper hue.
The 8/0 beads that we used here were light caramel ceylon ones -- a creamy golden that we felt looked great with the mix.
Please note: The photo shows a copper toggle clasp with four rings -- we can no longer get that one. The newer clasp is copper-plated and has three rings to it. The single kit will make a piece that is only about 5 1/2" to 7" long -- the addition this multi-ring clasp allows you to add up to about another inch or a bit more to it.
[Larger wrists can simply use extra 8/0 beads (included in the kit) at the beginning and at the end to add length to the piece. It would be a slightly different look but we think it would work and look very fine.]
Everything except the knitting needles (we used size 0/ US 2mm) is included in the kit -- about 150 each of the stone chips, and the 8/0 beads, the spool of thread and a copper-look three-ring clasp.
We are delighted with the look of this -- a most intriguing bracelet that draws the eye and is a delight to wear.
