A marvelous design from Kreations by Kristi, this beaded shawl is a delight to knit and a beauty to behold.
We are offering it in a kit form, using a different yarn in a colorway that is very close to one of the ones Kristi did as an original one. We really really like the look!

Kristi describes the piece thus:
A Shawl for Bestemor is dedicated in memory of my Norwegian grandmother, Borghild Holaas, who was a guiding light in my life. “Bestemor” means grandmother in Norwegian. She lived to be 100 years old and passed away in 1997.
Knit top down from a delicate top edge and decreasing into a slightly rounded trapezoidal shape. A subtle knit on border adds a lovely finishing touch. Beads can be substituted for the nupps in the shawl. Suggestions for bead placement are included in the pattern.
Well, of course we are putting beads in this kit -- how could we not?
The pattern calls for between 950 yards (for the medium size) and 1200 yards (for the large) of lace weight yarn. What each kit includes is two balls of Exquisite, the lovely 50% merino wool / 50% mulberry silk yarn from Fiddlesticks Knitting. The yarn has a truly elegant drape and sheen.
Each ball has 50 grams = 500 meters, or about 550 yards. Which means that the two of them will be enough for the medium sized shawl, using beads or using nupps. And Kristi mentions that if you are substituting beads for the nupps, then subtract 150 yards from the needed amounts -- which means that as long as you use the beads in this kit, all you would need for even the large size will be 1050 yards. So this kit will allow you to make the beaded version of the large one as well.
Pretty neat, yes? A great price for a stunning yarn to make a truly beautiful shawl.
The colorway is Aquamarine, and it is very close to the blue which Kristi used in one of her prototypes. It is a lovely medium blue, and you can see it in the inset photo in the first picture here and again right below it. The other photos are there to show you the design more clearly.

Medium measures 60” x 32”; Large measures 67” x 35”
Charts and row by row instructions are also included.
Each kit will include the pattern (hard copy; six pages printed out on heavy weight paper and slid into a sheet protector), two balls of Exquisite, and well more than enough 8/0 beads for the full piece. Kristi used beads that blended nicely with the yarn and just catch the light in a beautiful way (they look to me to be Crystal ABs) -- if you would prefer beads that stand out more, let me know. Otherwise let me choose the beads for you.
This will be a wonder!
