Here is a chance to create this amazing design by Melissa Lemmons-- she is the phenomenal designer who brought us the beauty of the Nouveau Beaded Capelet.
This one has been long-awaited and most glorious indeed!
Called Silver Bells and Cockle Shells, here is how Melissa describes it:
"The border of this shawl is based on a vintage edging. I loved the flower and fan motifs so decided to play around with them. The shell like fans with the flowers made me think of the nursery rhyme: Mary, Mary, quite contrary. How does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockle shells, and merry maids in a row."
A crescent shaped shawl worked form the top down with optional beads,
Melissa includes directions for using Gradiance colorways. She takes you through where to transition from one skein to the next for gradiance sets with four or five or even six mini-skeins to them.
The largest one knit by Melissa was done in Marici by The Unique Sheep in our exclusive colorway Inpressionist Sunrise -- a very soft blend of hues. It appears silver in many of the photos though it actually ranges from a lovely grey-violet and gradually changes over to suggest the first rays of sunlight peeking over the horizon with delicate orange tones. We picture the skeins in the next-to-last photo here.
And that is the exact kit which we offer here -- a five-skein set of Marici in Impressionist Sunrise, the pattern printed out, and the Silver Lined Light Sapphire 8/0 beads.
If you do not need the pattern, make sure the drop-down menu is set as you would like as you check out and you will get the kit with yarn and beads alone.
Marici is 100% Spun Silk and has an amazing sheen to it. This is truly lovely.
