Yum!  I don't know how Crizzy of Ursa Major Knits thinks of these, but I am so very very glad she does.

The Design

I quote Crizzy here:

Sockwork Orange is the fourth design of a sock series especially created for all sock yarns with a color gradient like Zauberball, Lang Mille Colori, Noro Sock, Mini Mochi, Lana Grossa Meilenweit, Poems Sock, Nordlys by Viking of Norway, and many more. It is a fun to knit project as you will always be compelled to see the effect the next color will offer.

However you can also combine two solidsone solid with a color gradient, two contrasting gradients etc. If you knit Sockwork Orange with one yarn you will need 1 ball of 100 g/3.5oz. If you use two yarns, you will either need 50g/1.75oz each or 65g/2.25oz of one color and 35g/1.25oz of the other.

Sockwork Orange is knitted toe-up. If this is your first attempt to knit socks from the toe up, this pattern will guide you through all the steps.

Sockwork Orange is modular, but you will join all pieces as you go, sono seaming is involved.

Sockwork Orange offers written and charted instructions as well asgraphics to demonstrate the architecture of this particular design. This pattern shows a 64 stitch version and you will be given a table with all sock sizes to knit your Sockwork Orange socks in your size. Additional stitches can be easily added if need be. To avoid any confusion and to keep the already considerable number of pages at a reasonable amount I didn’t include larger versions.

If you prefer your socks to be wider and find it hard to make said adjustments, feel free to get in touch with me under for further advice.

Happy Knitting

The Yarn and Colorways

We put together kits which include one skein each of Poems Sock. Each is a machine washable yarn of 75% superwash wool/ 25% nylon and has 459 yards (420m) per 100 gram ball.

The colors blend one into the next in loooooooong color repeats, just as Crizzy suggests.

We brought in a couple of the newest colorways in this yarn:

Sky & Earth is a beautiful blending that rangines from a sky blue/ turuqoise into golds and golden browns, deeper chocolates and into blue again.  Beautiful.  This is a perfect uni-sex colorway and has some similarities to one of Crizzy's original socks.

Lofoten is a soft and gentle range of colors, including ecru, pink, beige and soft caramel. Delicate and delicious -- it reminds me a bit of a bowl of ice cream in that vanilla-chocolate-strawberry combo called Neopolitan.

Cruise is not a new color but I couldn't resist bringing it in again.  All the colors of the rainbow seem to make an appearance here -- very similar in many respects to the other original sock Crizzy knit.  I see yellow, green, blue, purple, rose, red, orange, and back to yellow again.  (Sorry, sold out)

The Pattern

The kit will not automatically include the pattern.

I know some knitters will prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Crizzy via her Ravelry web page. If that is how you would like to go, then set the "Pattern" drop-down menu to "No Pattern Needed." This is what you should do if you prefer your patterns in the Ravelry library.

Alternatively, if you would rather have a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that and we'll get that to you in your kit.

We also can send the pattern to you via email and if you choose that option, I will send it to you just before shipping out your kit.  (Note again, the pattern will not be saved in your Ravelry library if you choose this option.)
