I had such fun with this one!
We found some great clasps that we just had to "play" with. The circles of these toggles are shaped like snakes -- and we thought they were so cool looking that I just had to try to design a bracelet around them.
So I took the basic Swirling Beaded Bracelet and tried different beads to create a snakeskin look. Finally by trial and error we hit upon the mix of 8/0 round beads and 4x4 cubes and began to knit.
Voila! A swirling snake bracelet with a snake toggle.
We are delighted. Well okay, you have to use your imagination a little bit, but hey -- isn't that part of the creative process?
Now the Snake Clasp was the one we first saw and thought was wonderful. However, we feel important to mention -- the toggle clasp is pewter and this particular one does contain some very small amounts of lead. Our vendors have assured us that all of our jewelry components are safe to both create and wear. However, only a few have specified that their components are entirely lead-free. Even a metal item made without adding lead may contain trace amounts and should be avoided by children, nursing mothers and pregnant women.
(So sorry -- the lizard clasp that we had been offering as totally lead-free is out of stock -- we have plenty of the snakes right now but no lizards.)
The bracelet shown here has silver lined crystal cubes (size 4x4) and eggplant lined midnight blue 8/0 beads. We think the cubes give a great snake skin effect (or lizard skin, perhaps). And the 8/0 beads kind of look like the underbelly. (Note as of April 8th -- we are unfortunately out of these particular beads in this specific color. Unless you specify another choice, we will simply substitute another blue 8/0 bead for these.)
So for your kit, we will include either silver lined crystal cubes or another crystal cube to look good with your smaller beads --and please feel free to tell us what color you would like the "underside" of your bracelet to be. If you don't choose any, we will give you a blue. But take a look at any of the beads on the 8/0 bead pages. These could all be pretty amazing.
Each kit will include the pattern, thread, about 15 grams of 4x4 cubes and about 7 grams of 8/0 beads.
And the toggle clasp, of course!
