Oh wow!  Would you believe another unique sock design from Ursa Major Knits?

The Design

Here is how Chrissie describes this most unusual pattern:

Ultrasox is the fifth design of a sock series especially created for all sock yarns with a color gradient like Zauberball, Lang Mille Colori, Noro Sock, Mini Mochi, Lana Grossa Meilenweit, Poems Sock, Nordlys by Viking of Norway, and many more. It is a fun to knit project as you will always be compelled to see the effect the next color will offer.

Ultrasox is knitted toe-up. If this is your first attempt to knit socks from the toe up, this pattern will guide you through all the steps withtons of photo tutorials.

Ultrasox is modular, but you will join all pieces as you go, so no seaming is involved.

Ultrasox offers written and charted instructions as well as graphicsto demonstrate the architecture of this particular design.

This pattern shows a 64 stitch version and you will be given a table with all sock sizes to knit your Ultrasox socks in your size. Additional stitches can be easily added if need be. To avoid any confusion and to keep the already considerable number of pages at a reasonable amount I didn’t include larger versions. If you prefer your socks to be wider and find it hard to make said adjustments, feel free to get in touch with me underursamajorknits@gmail.com for further advice.

The Yarn

For her original ones shown here, Chrissie used Zauberball Crazy.  Our kits do not use the same yarn; you can see ours in the inset photos on the top picture and again below that.  The other photos are there to show you the basic design.

As Chrissie mentions, Mini Mochi is a perfect yarn for this design. What is needed is between 380 - 420 yards (347 - 384 m), depending on the size you choose to make.

Mini Mochi is 80% Merino/ 20% Nylon (Polyamide) with 195 (178m) to each 50 gram ball.  It is a smooth knit with a very slight fuzz to it -- I love the look and the feel.

Each colorway is dyed in very long color repeats so the look you get will be similar to what you see in Chrissie's original pieces here.

This kit gives you two balls (a total of about 380 yards).  If you want three, to make the larger size, then contact us and we'll work with you to get what you'd like, as long as we have stock.

The Colorways

Here are the colorways you can choose from for this kit:

1.  Equinox is a wonderful colorway of bright tropical tones. It goes from warm gold into amber into rose into green and spring green and back to gold again.

2. Periwinkle Shadows is a cool melody of colors, a play on periwinkles from light into medium into dark.

3. Jungle is another cool blend, this time of gorgeous greens into purples.

The Pattern

The kit will not automatically include the pattern. I know some knitters will prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Chrissie via her Ravelry web page. If that is how you would like to go, then set the "Pattern" drop-down menu to "No Pattern Needed." This is what you should do if you prefer your patterns in the Ravelry library.

Alternatively, if you would prefer a printed copy (it is 21 pages), please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that and we'll get that to you in your kit.

We also can send the pattern to you via email and if you choose that option, I will send it to you just before shipping out your kit.
