An absolutely gorgeous beaded scarf design.
And, being made of pure cotton, perfect for any who are allergic to wools, or for vegans and vegetarians who object to animal products. Here's one for you.
It was designed by Laura Nelkin for Schaefer Yarn and uses only one skein of their new "Susan."
Susan is 100% mercerized pima cotton. Each skein is 470 yards (430 meters) to 6 ounces. The pattern uses size 6 (US)/ 4mm needles and 924 of size 6/0 beads to create the glory that you see here.
We got in the exact colorway that the yarn shows in the photograph to the right (called Empress Wu Zhao).
For the beads, we like quite a few beautiful colorways with this one and will enclose beads that will work well with the yarn. There are so many possibilities --- I like the the Berry Lined Topaz AB, Glacier Lined Crystal AB, Gunmetal Metallic, Sea Foam Lined Crystal AB, Sky Blue Lined Crystal AB, Purple Lined Crystal AB, Silver Lined Crystal, Crystal AB (all of these as 6/0 rounds) or Crystal AB Megatamas in the 4mm size, and honestly I could find more. So many gorgeous color combinations! Let us choose for you.
The kit will have at least 80 grams, which includes a few extra to allow for spillage (or the cat jumping on your lap mid-stringing).
Any of these bead colors or types should look stupendous. If you have a preference, or a different bead you'd like to go with this, just tell us via the "Comments" section as you check out. The kit will include the pattern, the yarn, and the beads. (The needles are not part of the kit.) This will give you a wonderful finished scarf of approximately 6" wide x 49" long.
