Another lovely colorway in the sock yarn from Miss Babs called "Yummy". This is a 2-ply sock yarn that is 100% superwash merino. Each four ounce skein has 400 yards, one being plenty for most pairs of socks and often for shawlettes and scarves as well. This yarn can be machine washed and dried on gentle.

The colorway here is a variegated called Baird's Whale. I looked up data on the mammal that the color is named after and found out that the Baird's Whale's color ranges from blue-gray to brown to black on the dorsal or upper side of the body, and light gray on the underside of the body. This skein is a lovely play on blue-grays from a soft pastel through deeper sea hues into an almost-charcoal.
This is a strongly fluctuating tone-on-tone if that makes sense -- all one basic hue but with dramatically different depths of color.
