A great new design from Maureen, this one is sure to keep your interest!

This attractive scarf is quick to knit in garter stitch. Working side-to-side results in lengthwise stripes. Three tassels at the corners provide an eye-catching finish.

Basically, five colors are combined in artful squares of basic garter stitch, slip stitches, intarsia and Fair Isle knitting. The squares are joined together as you knit. The squares are off-set, creating an interesting, fun–to-knit scarf that will keep you intrigued from start to finish.

Level: Intermediate.

The finished size will be approximately 45” long, each square is 5” x 5”, t6hough the scarf may easily be adjusted to larger or smaller sizes.

The suggested gauge is 23 sts, 46 rows = 4” (10 cm) on size 4 (US 6) needles.

The scarf as seen here was done in DK weight -- figure on 100 yards each of your main color plus four contrast colors.

This scarf is knit in sections. Each section is joined to its neighbor as you progress. One great thing about this design is that if you’d prefer to skip a technique or would like to change the finished length, you can simply add or subtract a square.

We think this design is marvelous!
