I don't mean to push the seasons -- though Autumn is my absolute favorite -- but this sock pattern just caught my eye.

Fun!

By Anne Hanson of Knit Spot designs, here is a lovely one to make -- unique and quite interesting.

Here is what Anne writes:

"A top-down sock to commemorate the fall season and the greedy activity of squirrels everywhere. An openwork pattern featuring acorn motifs extends down the leg and over the foot (pattern is not reversible for toe-up construction)."

Anne suggests a light sock weight yarn. The pattern is written for one which has 500 yards to 4 ounces, though the usual slightly heavier ones will also work with slight attention paid to sizings. You will want about 400 yards (360m) of yarn to make these, and a guage of 32 sts and 48 rows to 4" in stockinette. (BTW, the Jezebel and the Anne yarns both fit the lighter category and should work excellently with this pattern.)

Neat! I love the little acorn motifs.
