I've been waiting for these gorgeous new colorways from Anzula and yesterday the box arrived.

Big smiles here.

I thought that this lovely Albuquerque Sunset shawl by Casapinka (aka Bronwyn)would be a wonderful offering with these.

The Design

Here is how Bronwyn describes this beauty:

(T)his pattern isn’t difficult but it is FUN. A slipped stitch with varying solid rows in between allows the yarn do the work and a simple lace repeat at the end adds some contrast. Yarn is carried up the neck edge for the entire project. One color of yarn is worked at a time.

The sunsets in Albuquerque, reflecting back on the Sandias are simply beautiful. Get yourself a Golden Pride breakfast burrito, sit back and enjoy the view (or knit in Rhode Island with an Iggy’s clam cake and a Dunkin Donuts coffee and pretend, like I do now.)

This pattern was designed for one skein each of a variegated and solid sock/fingering weight yarn.

Final measurements will be about 73” long at neck edge by 17” deep.

And btw, the lace for the border is in both charted and written form.

The Yarn and Colorways

What we offer for this kit is not the same yarn nor colors that were used in the original piece. You can see ours in the top photo's insets and again right below that. The other photos are there with the designer's permission so you can allow your imagination full flight.

The yarn is Haiku, by Anzula, and is a delicious 70% superwash merino/ 20% bamboo/ 10% nylon.  Each skein has 425 yards (388 meters).

Anzula just released some lovely new colorways, called Speckles. These are lovely splatterings of color in various families of hues.  Each of these we have paired with an almost-solid colorway and your kit will include one of each, to allow you to create quite a spectacular piece.

Jawbreaker has the bright colors of childhood.  On a creamy-pinkish background you will see bright fuchsia, pink, lime, turquoise, teal, green, gold, with some spots of lilac and most likely more that I missed.  It simply glows!  We have paired it with the almost-solid Irene, a color that reminds me of the inside of seashells somehow.  it is a pale lilac and sets off Jawbreaker beautifully.

Dark Matter plays at the other end of the scale, with deep colors like black and chocolate mingling with maroon and rose, green and lime, pink and cream, gold and teal.  The overall look is darker and quieter, if these Speckles could be said to be quiet. We paired it with Seaside, a gentle neutral, sort of a  sand color that is a perfect foil for the other.

The Pattern

Please note that the pattern is not included in this particular Kit.

You must purchase it directly from Casapinka's Ravelry Store.  This will also make sure the pattern is stored in your Library and should there be any updates, you will get them automatically.
