This is a beautiful piece, by Nina Machlin Dayton.

Here is what Nina writes:

I think it is gorgeous.
Yarn and Colorways
Allouette requires Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi) yarn -- yardage between 345 yards and 900 yards (315 - 823 m), depending on the size you want to make.
A small will be 40" x 19" deep and will require 345 yards of yarn. A medium will be 60" x 32" and uses 650 yards. And a large is 76" x 38" and uses 850 yards of fingering weight yarn.
The yarn we offer for the kits here is Ella Rae Heathered Merino, a fingering weight 80% superwash merino/ 20% nylon with 457 yards (417m) per 100g skein.
It feels truly awesome, really a delicious yarn.
Our yarns can be seen in the inset photo on the lower righthand corner of the top picture here and then right below it. It is not the same as the yarn Nina used in her original.
The photos on this page show the shawl as knit by Nina. The green ones are the smaller size, using one-skein of yarn (about 440 yards needed). The blue toned ones that you see are the larger size, two skeins worth (about 800 yards needed).
This kit gives what is needed to knit the smaller size. If you would like the larger size either go for two kits or contact me for a special kit created just for you. As long as we have stock we will work with you on this.
We have three slmost-solid colorways you can choose between:
Marlin is a rich teal, reminiscent of deep ocean currents.
Aubergine is a blue-violet, more on the blue side than the violet side.
Seaweed is a deep dark evergreen.
What you also will need is 510 beads for the smaller size and 970 size 6/0 beads for the larger. Our kit will include a few more than the 510 needed for the smaller size.
I often choose beads that mirror to some degree the colors of the yarn though here I think contrasting beads (like silver or gold) would also look great. If you have a preference on bead color, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern and the cost of the pattern has not been factored in.
We offer three options.
I know some knitters might already have this or prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Nina via her Ravelry web page. In that case, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "No Pattern Needed."
If you would like a Printed copy (ten pages printed on heavy paper and slid into a sheet protector), please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
We also can email the PDF of the pattern to you. This is not automatic -- I need to send it on manually and usually do so right before shipping.
