Alzada is a simple and sophisticated shawl, pattern by Irina Eberhardt. As we were talking (well, really emailing) about the design, Irina suggested that the long color runs of Katia Darling would work well for this design.
And so we here present a kit that will help you create a marvelous piece, for yourself or as a gift for another. And we are adding the option of beads too!
Alzada is asymmetrical triangular shawl, knitted from side to side. The garter stitch is alternated with eyelet stripe. The pointy edge gives the charm to the shawl.
To the taste of the knitter the shawl could be knitted in plain color or in multiple colors. Gradient yarn would be great solution. It could be shorter or longer.
The Yarn and Colorways
Our yarn and colors are not the same as what Irina used for her original shawl. You can see what composes these kits in the inset photos on the top picture and again below that.
For our kits we use, from Katia, Darling, which has 208 yards (190 meters) to each 50 gram ball. It is made of 60% of virgin wool and 40% polymide.
What is special about this yarn is that the colors are extremely rich and they continue for long color runs. So I think the look will be pretty phenomenal.
Kit #1: The colorways we got in don't have names -- this one is colorway #205. All the colors blend together into a fantastic Valentine colorway --- rich and vibrant. The colors range from vivid roses and fuschisa through violets and purples. (Sorry, sold out.)
Kit #2: This one will allow you to play with colors quite similar to Irina's original piece. This is colorway #211, aka Greys, is a wonderful play on neutrals with the colors ranging from a delciate cream into pale grey, deeper brey, charcoal, to black.
As one needs roughly 480 yards to make a good sized shawl here, we will be including 3 balls of yarn in each kit, giving you 624 yards.
No, the pattern does not call for beads. However, if you would like to add some, perhaps at the edging, perhaps at the yarn-overs, we are offering that option here.
If you choose to get beads (see drop-down menu labeled "kit" under the top photo on this page) you will get about 20 grams of size 6/0 beads. That will give you roughly 240 beads for personal designing pleasure.
if you have a thought on the color of bead you'd like, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
The pattern is not automatically part of the kit.
If you so choose, you can get the pattern on Irina's Ravelry page. This will give you a copy in your Ravelry library and automatically receive any updates. In this case, set the drop-down menu above to "No Pattern Needed."
If you would prefer a printed copy or a PDF via email, please select that option via the "Pattern" drop-down menu. The PDF file will be emailed right before your kit is shipped.
