Natalia Moreva of Kulabra Designs comes up with some most intriguing patterns that just have me itching to try them out.
This one is called Amun-Ra and it is most unique!
Our kits offer yarns that will allow you to knit a beautiful version of this.
Get the pattern directly from Natalia via her website here. What we offer is a set of yarn to knit this with.
Amun-Ra is semi-circular colorwork shawl. It's knit in two steps.
First, the main part is worked sideways, wedge by wedge.
Then the stitches for the trim are picked up from the outer edge of the main part.
Techniques used: garter stitch, short rows, decreases and increases
Yarn and Colorways
Natalia says that all that is needed is fingering-weight yarn in three colors:
- 120g/500m of color A (shown light blue)
- 100g /400m of color B (shown dark blue)
- 35g /150m of color C (shown yellow)
We brought in from Manos of Uruguay Yarns three almost-solid colorways in Alegria. These yarns are 75% merino/ 25% nylon, with 445 yards (405m) per 100g skein.
You can see our yarn in the lower righthand corner of the top photo and again below that. The others are photos of Natalia's original shawl so you can get an idea of the design.
For the Color A (light blue in Natalia's original shawl), we offer Stratus, a soft light cloud blue. (Two skeins will be in your kit.)
For Color B (dark blue in the original), we brought in Royal, truly what is called royal blue, rich and vibrant. (One skein per kit.)
And for Color C (yellow in the original shawl) we have Tumeric, a golden hue that really sings. (One skein per kit.)
