Another new Mystery Knit Along (MKAL) that we are participating in with The Unique Sheep (TUS) and designed by Janine LeCras.
How it works:
Please note that here we are taking Pre-Orders: This means that your yarn will be dyed in the colorway of your choice and in the yarn base that you choose.
(You can find our policy here on shipping and pre-orders.)
There are optional beads (you decide if you want them or not). This whole process takes time, of course.
Here are the important dates:
The MKAL begins August 7th.
Sing-ups will remain open through to July 7th. Anyone who orders by that date can be assured that your order will arrive before the KAL. Ordering between July 8th and August 7th means we'll try our best, but no promises.
Our next KAL is inspired by the the stories of the Arabian Nights, especially the tale of Al-adin and the Jin!
Designed by Janine le Cras, this rectangular shawl is worked in fingering weight yarn and can be knit in any of our fingering weight bases.
The pattern will be emailed to you in pieces. On the first day you'll receive the instructions for the first part of the pattern. In the following weeks you'll receive the rest of the pattern, bit by bit. But you won't see a finished picture of the shawl until the very end!
We'd love to have you join us on this knitting adventure!
Announcements and conversation will take place on the Ravelry group board so please join us there! The designer (Janine le Cras) and the dyers (Kelly Eells and Laura Lough) will be active on the Ravelry board and Facebook Group to answer questions about the pattern and cheer you on!
Weekly "clues" will be sent out either via email or sent to your Ravelry library. If you want the clues stored in your Ravelry library, make sure to let us know your Rav name when you order.
We here at Earth Faire also offer membership in this MKAL -- you can purchase the yarn with or without the beads in any of our exclusive signature colorways or indeed in any colorway that The Unique Sheep offers.
Note that the price varies depending on your yarn preference. Please make sure to select the correct option for the yarn of your choice.
About The Beads
Please note that the deadline for ordering beads with this kit is July 7th. There are simply many beads needed for the kits so that we need extra time to be sure to have them in stock.
If you wish to add beads, plan on about 770 size 6/0 beads. Anyone who selects the bead option for their kit will get well more than that amount. If you have a preference for bead color, let me know. Otherwise I will choose for you.
Yarn and Colorways
You can see more data on the yarns offered as well as a bit more about our colorways on this web page here. And most of our colorways can be seen on these Flickr pages.
One note on the Linen/Silk yarn: this yarn is lovely but please note that it takes dye less saturated. So expect the colors to be a bit softer.
Beyond the usual fingering weight yarns from The Unique Sheep, we also can offer two additional signature EarthFaire yarns you might like.
Luna is a 75% superwash Merino, 20% nylon, 5% Stellina. The stellina is a soft silver-toned fiber.
Leeana is a 51/49 blend of cultivated silk/ merino (just a bit more silk than merino). The best of both fibers, this has some of the memory/bounce from the merino with the beautiful shine that comes from silk.
Price: the price varies depending on your yarn preference. Please make sure to select the correct option for the yarn of your choice.
And be assured that we are honoring the special 10% off coupon code that was sent with the last clue of the last MKAL (Narnia) if you took part in that one with The Unique Sheep.
Just some additional notes:
If your choice of colorway is one of the circles, we have two wonderful options for you.
1. You might select 6 consecutive numbers from the photos and your yarn will be dyed in 6 skeins using those colors.
2. Or! You might like to get the entire circle as your colorway -- in this case, your yarn will be dyed in 12 half-skeins so you get the full 12-step circle.
Either is fine; either is tremendous fun! Just be sure to let me know as you check out.
Again, data on our special colorways can be found here as well as photos here.
Note: we are going to assume you want a Gradiance set unless you tell me differently.
Not all of the colorways can be found via the links above, alas. If you are curious about one (or more) of the others, just contact me and I'll send you a photo privately.
If you want a colorway that is not listed on the drop-down menu above, select "Other" and let us know.
If you have any questions or would like any additional information, again, please just contact me.
P.S. The photos here show our circular colorways as well as a few that struck me as very Aladin-esque. :-)
