Welcome to the 8th installment of the Artyarns Merino Cloud Inspiration Club!
Every two months we have been receiving a limited number of specially dyed Merino Cloud yarn from ArtYarns. The colors are limited edition and exclusive.
Each installment is a surprise, but will be in the spirit of the season, as you can see from the first photo on this page.
And each time, your purchase comes with your choice of one of the free patterns! Read on for more details.....
Merino Cloud is a luxurious blend of Extra Fine Merino (80%) and Italian Cashmere (20%) with 437 yards per skein, it knits up as a fine fingering through to a sport weight depending on needle size. Perfect for scarves, shawls, and garments of all types.
The colorway is called Winter Wonderland, a lovely blend of mostly neutrals including the cream base plus grays, soft browns and a splattering of pale blues.
And as a special treat this month, instead of bringing in another solid colorway of Merino Cloud to work with this variegated one in designs, we worked with Iris to bring in a set of gradiently dyed Merino Cloud yarns.
Each of these Gradients Kits is composed of four smaller skeins of Merino Cloud, each with 135 yards (124m)/ 30g for a total of 540 yards (496m)/ 120g.
Iris tweaked one of her usual sets to make this custom set for us. These skeinettes mirror beautifully many of the colors in Winter Wonderland: there is a cream, taupe, lilac-gray and charcoal.
We did not get in a lot of these so be aware that they might sell out quickly.
Also note that the Gradient set is sold as a separate unit, a bit more expensive than the single skein.
It is $35 + 17 = $52 for the four-skein gradent set whereas the Winter Wonderland Merino Cloud skein costs the base price on this web page of $35.
You will note in the drop-down menu its additional cost.
If you want both items you will have to add them each separately to your shopping cart.
Winter Wonderland offers the follwing free patterns:
1. Lace Scarf, by Iris Schreier, can be knit using one skein of Winter Wonderland.
2. Striped Moebius also designed by Iris Schreier, is knit 2 skeins of Merino Cloud, 1 in Winter Wonderland and 1 in companion color Taupe -- we didn't bring in the Taupe but one could get a very interesting look by substituted the gradient yarns instead.
3. There is also a Hat and Scarf Set designed by Lucinda Iglesias of Mont Tricot, using 2 skeins of Merino Cloud, 1 in Winter Wonderland and 1 in companion color Taupe (ditto on the substitution).
Make sure to let me know if you want any of these patterns! We will email it to you right before we ship your yarns.
We didn't bring in any of ArtYarns' Silk & Sequin Yarn this time but we do want to offer the option of getting a container of a bit more than 400 size 6/0 beads (about 35g) with your yarn if you so choose.
This is via the drop-down menu labeled "Kit" above.
Of course, it will be up to you where you want to place the beads in any of the designs you knit but they will be chosen to work beautifully with the yarn's colorways. If you have an idea of what you'd like, tell me. Otherwise I will pick for you.
