Welcome to the fourth installment of the Artyarns Merino Cloud Inspiration Club!
Every two months we have been receiving a limited number of specially dyed Merino Cloud yarn from ArtYarns. The colors are limited edition and exclusive.
Each installment is a surprise, but will be in the spirit of the season, as you can see from the first photo on this page.
Plus! We have free patterns especially designed for these colorways and yarns.
We chose this month to bring in two complementary colorways of the lovely Merino Cloud but not to get ArtYarns' pre-beaded-and-sequined silk yarn. As an added option instead we are offering the possibility of adding beads to your order. More details are below.
This web page is set up to allow you to purchase single skeins of the Merino Cloud yarn as described below.
The Yarn and Colorways
Merino Cloud is a luxurious blend of Extra Fine Merino (80%) and Italian Cashmere (20%) with 437 yards per skein, it knits up as a fine fingering through to a sport weight depending on needle size.
Here is what Iris writes (Iris being the creative force behind ArtYarns):
Wildflowers are the theme for this fourth installment of the Merino Cloud Inspiration Club.
We heard from many of our customers that they wanted a gradient-style color, and this feminine yet unusually dyed combination will surely be a hit to celebrate bright and glorious flowers.
The May selection is based on a beautiful photo of wildflowers (hence its name: Wildflowers) and includes cream, pink, rose, fuchsia, and purple (plus tones in-between).
Please note that once these are gone, they will truly be gone. They were dyed specifically for this Inspiration Club offering.
Back in March another tonal colorway had been added with the Cherry Blossoms Inspiration Club and having two that worked so nicely together was very well received indeed.
So this time again, we also have a small quantity of Merino Cloud in a tonal colorway called Fuchsia and that is what it is -- subtle variations on rich deep rose, magenta, fuchsia, all melded together beautifully.
(Sorry, sold out. However, if you are looking for a solid color that goes well with the Wildflowers colorway, take a look at here at the Iris color.)
The exclusive pattern, designed specifically with the Wildflowers colorway, is an easy crescent-shaped shawl using a feather and fan pattern. All that is needed is one skein of Merino Cloud in Wildflowers.
This project shows off how the colorway transitions from light pink to dark pinks and purples. This May color is dyed like a gradient, so start with the lighter color and end with the darker (as shown) or flip it. Either would be lovely and dramatic.
If you remember, back in March again, a special pattern was offered using both the Club colorway plus a tonal colorway together.
And so again, in May, we have a pattern designed by guest designer Danielle Bowen (of Knitique) that uses one skein each of both Wildflowers and the tonal Fuschia in a lovely Chevron rectangle shawl/ poncho that has a striking stitch combination.
While each of these patterns include instructions for adding ArtYarns' Beaded Silk & Sequins, it is an optional addition. All that is needed is the Merino Cloud as noted here.
Just let us know what pattern you would like free with your yarn purchase. Or both, if you like....
Though we decided not to bring in the Beaded Silk & Sequins Yarn this month, that doesn't mean you can't add some wonderful bling if you'd like!
We added a special drop-down menu to the choices under the top photo on this page. From this you can decide to get the yarn only or the yarn plus beads!
We will include 20 grams of size 6/0 beads (about 240 beads). If you have a preference on bead color, let me know. Otherwise I will choose for you.
(And if you would like more than that, or perhaps a different size or shape of bead, please contact us and we'll work with you.)
