With profound thanks to my friend Barbara Gilchrist, from whose creative genius sprang this idea.
This is the perfect bracelet for the fun whimsical days of summer!
And would be perfect for Carmen Miranda to wear --- or even Chiquita Banana!
We took three slightly different shades of green 8/0 beads (there will be a minimum of three greens in your kit as well), added some brilliantly colored 3mm megatamas for highlight and strung them with a very funky and fun fruit bead mix -- notice there are pears and apples and bananas and grapes and oranges. The mix even has a few others that we didn't get to string on -- you might choose them from the mix you get, depending on your own preference in fruit.
Then we took two gold plated necklace ends, with teeth on one edge, and using pliers tightened one over each end to hold it flat and add a great edging. We used golden jump rings to add a gold tone spring clasp on one end to match another jump ring on the other side and are very pleased with the finished look.
If you would prefer silver findings to finish your bracelets instead of the gold, we have all that is needed except that, depending on stock, we might need to include a lobster clasp instead of a spring clasp (these would be silver plated necklace ends and silver rings and sterling silver clasp) . That will also look excellent. Select this option from the drop-down menu below.
So the kit contains everything you need except your knitting needles (we recommend size 0/2mm) and the pliers for adding the necklace ends (also useful for handling and closing the jump rings).
The pattern is the same as the one we've been knitting all along for the bead soup/bead stew bracelets except that we cast on a eight stitches and used seven beads across each row.
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. We offer three options. I know some of you might already have made other bracelets from us that are made along the same lines, the only real changes being the beads and the colors. If you feel you do not need another pattern, simply choose "No Pattern Needed."
If you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
The kit will have the beads, green thread (unless you tell us you'd like another color -- use the "comments" section as you check out), and the findings to finish as described above.
Great fun! Perfect for the beach and just creating smiles wherever you go!
