What a marvelous idea!
By Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer (aka Jackie E-S), this Beaded Stress Ball would be a great conversation piece, as well as a good gift or just an inanimate "pet."
Get your pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page here. We offer via this web page yarn and beads to knit it with.
Here is what Jackie writes:
Relieve tensions with a soothing Beaded Stress Ball.
Squish and roll this beaded ball around in your hands to provide relaxation and quick relief for stress, aching or stiff finger joints. Tiny pressure points of beads have a meditative quality.
These balls make a quick, low-cost and much-appreciated gift. Make them bright and colorful for a cheerful uplift, or in subtle colors to fit your most reflective mood.
The Yarn and Colorways
We aren't offering in this kit the same yarn as Jackie used in her original. You can see our yarn in the upper righthand corner of the top photo on this page and then again below that.
As all that is needed is 25 yards of fingering weight yarn, we thought that Unicorn Tails would be perfect for this project. One tail has 52 yards (50m). They are made up on Tosh Merino Light, a single-ply 100% merino yarn.
And the colorways are such fun! We offer your choice of two very different looks:
1. Magic Lantern is a very happy smattering of colors. On a cream background, I see bright lime, yellow, fuchsia, turquoise, orange, and teal.
2. Translation is a tonal blend of blues and teals, very calm and laid back. (Sorry, sold out.)
Each ball needs 792 size 8/0 beads (that's about 20g) and that is what will be in each kit.
I generally like to go with a bead color that mirrors one of the colors in the yarn though a striking contrast can also look very good.
We put an option via the drop-down menu above to get all one color of beads or a mix of colors, not the same mix as Jackie used in her original but a mix that is chosen to go with the yarn color.
If you have any preferences color-wise, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
