The Design

Our next KAL is inspired by the classic story of La Belle et La Bête-- the original story of the beauty and the beast.

See some of our inspiration on The Unique Sheep's Pinterest board

Designed by Janine le Cras, this shawl is worked in lace weight yarn and can be knit in any of our lace weight bases.

You can choose a regular colorway or one of our Gradiance colorways.

It looks great with or without beads.

If you'd like to try something new, we are offering a sea silk yarn as a special option just for this KAL. This new yarn is a luxurious blend of 51% Silk 29% Merino Wool 20% Sea CellTM . It is a bit heavier than most of our other lace weight yarns (875yd per 100g) and has a texture somewhere between Ling and Marici, but softer. It takes color a bit more muted than Ling or Marici.

The pattern will be emailed to you in pieces. On the first day you'll receive the instructions for the first part of the pattern. In the following weeks you'll receive the rest of the pattern, bit by bit. But you won't see a finished picture of the shawl until the very end!

We'd love to have you join us on this knitting adventure!

Announcements and conversation will take place on the Ravelry group board so please join us there! The designer (Janine le Cras) and the dyers (Kelly Eells and Laura Lough) will be active on the Ravelry board and Facebook Group to answer questions about the pattern and cheer you on!

The Yarns

Any of the Unique Sheep's lace weight yarn can be chosen for this piece.

Note that the price varies depending on your yarn preference. Please make sure to select the correct option for the yarn of your choice

Selene is 100% Superwash Merino

Ostara is 100% Cotton

Ling is 70% Superwash Extrafine Merino, 30% Cultivated Silk

Chasca is 100% Superfine Alpaca

Marici Lace is 100% Spun Silk

Eos is 50/50 Merino & Tussah Silk

Cirrus is a 80/20 blend of merino/silk.

Sea Silk is made up of  51% Silk 29% Merino Wool 20% Seacell ®.

There is a great post on the Ravelry site by Kelly that describes man of these in depth.

So note that both the Cirrus, the Sea Silk, and the Selene will have more weight in order to get the needed yardage.

The Colorways

Each kit is dyed to order (which is why it will take time) in the yarn and colorway of your choosing.

Now about colorways.

You can order through us any and all of the colorways that The Unique Sheep creates.

There are also a number which are Earth Faire exclusives which you can only get through us. Almost all are shown on these Flickr pages , though we are constantly working with Kelly to create new ones and those might be a bit late having their pictures taken. We list the Earth Faire signature colorways in the search box above.

And the photos on this page show our special Circle colorways.   Feel free to contact us if you would like another photo or more data or description on any of these.

If you want a colorway that you cannot find specifically listed on the Choices drop-down menu, simply select "Other (tell us!)"

If you would like more data or description on any of these colorways or even a photo or two, again simply contact me and I will work with you.
