When my children were little, they had a much-beloved book series, called Choose Your Own Adventure. The idea was you read a page or two and decided what you (as the character) did. If you picked up the lantern, turn to page 4. If you went home, turn to page 6. If you made a right turn, go to page 3. If you turned left, page 5. Then another few pages and another choice. So that each time you read the book it was just that much different from the first time and you truly chose your own adventure.
They loved these.
I am trying to figure out a way to offer something similar with a bracelet kit.
In this case I took the basic Bird of Paradise pattern. It is a simple one, requiring one spool of Kreinik's metallic thread, some 8/0 beads, some 3x10mm (or 3x11mm) daggers and a clasp. The finished piece is a most-fun bracelet to wear, that has a fantastic "swoosh" feel to it on the wrist.
Well, I just got in three most intriguing new dagger colors, in the 3x11mm size and as I was looking at them and contemplating how they could best be used, I thought of this idea.
While I haven't yet worked out a way to offer choices on all of the part to this piece, I can offer you a choice of daggers.
The first photo here shows the original Bird of Paradise bracelet (still being offered on another web page) on the top and the three special daggers in the bottom part of the picture. These daggers are also shown in the three photos below that one.
They are (in order shown):
Perseus: a turquoise/rust,
Aquarius: a teal/turquoise medley, and
Moon Dust: a mix of blues and greens and purples, with reds and golds as well.
Choose your own dagger and I will put together 8/0 beads and thread and clasp to work with it.
Or if you have a strong sense yourself of what you'd like to go with it, tell me in the "Comments" section as you check out.
Each kit will include a 10m spool of thread, 5 to 10 grams of 8/0 beads, and at least 100 of the daggers in the colorway you choose.
The pattern is the same as for all of the Flying Feather Bracelets -- you have the option to get it or not via the drop-down menu.
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. We offer three options. I know some of you might already have made other bracelets from us that are made along the same lines, the only real changes being the beads and the colors. If you feel you do not need another pattern, simply choose "No Pattern Needed."
If you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
This should be great fun!
