Our latest addition to our Birthstone Bracelet series.
The "main" birthstone for July is the ruby, and gorgeous as that is, it is not one that we can easily offer as a beaded bracelet. And we are very reluctant to simply offer ruby-colored stones and beads as we like our special Birthstone Bracelets to be largely made up of semi-precious stones whenever possible.
And then -- tah dah! -- a discovery!
Carnelian is one of the birthstones listed in the ancient Arabic, Hebrew, Italian and Roman tables for July.
Folklore suggests that carnelian was used protect the traveler after death and guard against evil. Carnelian's healing properties are thought to help purify the blood, relieve menstrual cramps and back pain. It is also thought to be beneficial in the treatment of infertility and is worn to enhance passion and desire.
Here so we present our Birstone Bracelet of Carnelians for July.
We strung onto a golden thread our mix of many sizes and shapes and variations in color of Carnelian, from chips to nuggets to cubes to rondells, with some coco beads in turquoise added to highlight the whole and enhance the colors.
Interspered between each of these larger stones are small 8/0 beads. Some are silver lined ruby, some are garnet lined ruby ab, some are the new Miyuki Union beads in a delicate crystal lemon rainbow. (Interestingly, the red beads add a beautiful depth to the piece though the carnelians themselves have no red to them.)
And finished it off with a gold tone toggle clasp. (We have a limited number of these clasps, so there is a chance that yours might be a bit different.)
The whole comes together beautifully, if I do say so myself. I am especially delighted with this one. It looks to my eye like juicy fruit just waiting to be plucked.
Your particular kit might have some variation in the larger stone but the overall look will be what you see here.
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern.
We offer three options.
This is essentially our Bead Stew Bracelet design, the only real difference being that the 8/0 beads are put between each of the larger beads, colors and shapes going on randomly.
I know many of you have already have made other bracelets from us along the same lines, the only real changes being the beads and the colors. If you feel you do not need another pattern, simply choose "No Pattern Needed" using the drop-down menu under the top photo on this page.
If you would like a printed copy of the pattern, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Again, just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
Big smiles here....
