The next in our series of Birthstone Bracelets:
The birthstone for May is the Emerald which is associated with friendship, faithfulness and loyalty.
The vibrant green hue of the May birthstone symbolizes the renewal of life in Spring, which starts in May in the northern hemisphere.
‘Emerald’ comes from the Greek word “smaragdos” which means “green stone” and green is the birthstone color for the month of May.
The modern and the official May birthstone (as per the American Gem Trade Association) is the Emerald.
The alternative birthstone for May is traditionally Agate.
I really did want to find some true emeralds to offer for this bracelet but alas, the only ones I found that were remotely affordable had holes that were waaaaay too small to use. However, on searching for green agates, I found some real beauties that jump out and sing to Springtime and all that is green and growing.
So here is a bracelet that showcases green Agates, to represent May and the rebirth that is Spring.
The Birthstone Bracelet for May is a melody created with green beads of two sizes, and large 8mm Green Agates and finished with a stunning gold toggle clasp with green crystals.
The agates come in a wonderful range of greens, some light, some dark, some in-between. They include banded agate, dark green banded agate, and forest green agate.
The beads are threaded in a specific order and the knitting is done so as to induce a swirl to the finished piece.
The whole comes together using a design very similar to our Fire Polish Crystal Swirls. The bracelet ends up looking truly like a green vine bursting with juicy fruit.
Gorgeous (in my oh-so-humble opinion)! I am really pleased with the look of this one and think you will be too.
Each kit will include enough agates, beads and thread (golden) to make a bracelet up to about 8" long. And the crystal-crusted toggle clasp.
(If you would prefer a silver thread and a simple silver toggle clasp just say the word and we'll give you that in your kit.)
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. We offer three options:
I know some of you might already have made other bracelets of ours that are made along the same lines . If you feel you do not need another pattern, simply choose "No Pattern Needed."
If you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
Supplies are fairly limited.
