A great hat design, by Stephen West, done in two colors of worsted weight yarn.
This design was inspired by the simplicity of a wooden pavilion roof at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Knit from brim to crown, this reversible ribbed beanie features pronounced slipped stitch columns that feed into the center top of the hat.
The reverse side displays a smooth 3x1 rib, allowing another option for wear.
You will have a great time pairing two yarns together to achieve interesting colorful and textural effects.
Gauge is 22 sts = 4"/10cm in 3x1 rib (unstretched), using US 7/4.5mm needles
Finished Measurements One size to fit average adult head (22-24"/56-61cm)
Materials Used Worsted weight, MC ~ 80yds(standard), 120yds(folded brim), CC - 60yds
Needle Size 1 set US 6/4mm and US 7/4.5mm DPNs
The pattern includes the option to knit standard beanie style or the hat with a folded brim. There is also a shorter version for those who prefer it.
